12.30.10 POTD

12.30.10 POTD, originally uploaded by Sarah (SarahDanyelle).

I know of at least three clients who would love to see this logo go out of their proofing websites. I am getting there, I promise! Being severly under the weather just did not help at all! And this picture is only in black and white because I could not get my white balance right in color. It was so weirdly lit in here tonight!

More Christmas gift shots today! I really wish I could get out from under this cold or whatever! Believe it or not, we did not own good mixing bowls until just now. These came from Aunt Karen and I can't wait to mix something up in them!

My mom and my mother-in-law teamed up for this beauty. I am in love with it. The interior is purple and that is so totally fabulous!!

Part of the reason I wasn't around for a while was because I was sick with something bordering on the flu. The good news is that with Chirstmas just happening I was able to snap pictures of our gifts as photos of the day. This I got from my mother-in-law, I was actually with her when she bought it and I knew she was buying it for me. But the funny thing is that by the time Christmas rolled around I had completely forgotten about it so it was a surprise!

One of Ditz's favorite Christmas presents - a new weather station. It does wind, rain and temperature. However the little icon thing at the top os not so smart. It uses the humidity level, temperature, barometrice pressure and wind speed to determine what it "is" outside. I can garauntee you that on this day, it was NOT snowing. : )

12.25.10 Photo of the Day & Christmas!!

I tried something different for this post. I edited every single photo the same way.  I am really into black and white at the moment, plus these were shot at a super high ISO so I feel they look better in black and white... Anyway, without further ado:

This is basically the Kirk family Christmas. Kids, parents, adults, teenagers who think they are adults (wink), cameras, presents, and a good glass of scotch to help the boys get through it all.   I think this is the type of picture that I'll look back on later and will be happy to have.
My husband. The marshmallow bow and arrow hunter. (You can make out the tiny marshmallow heading my way) Chase ended up eating about five to ten off the ground before we caught him. Luckily no tummy ache for him.

I am sure they were checking out a totally awesome gift that we got them. : )

Photo by Ditz.  Jax has no idea why the adults think this is funny. Notice Aunt Kelli laughing....

And then there's dad laughing.....

I mean seriously how funny is this?

Lindsey may or may not have been a tad bored since she got to wait and open presents with the adults.

This was my runner up POTD.  It's really pretty in color, but I didn't want it to be the only one in color.

Lindsey, finally opening presents. She got that necklace that she's wearing around her forehead.

Jerry, Jerry, Jerry. What can I say. He got that back pack and those jeans for Christmas.  We kind of thought the jeans were a little feminine. So he gave us his best feminine pose.

And this one I had to include because it's hysterical. It's a snowman toilet seat cover and rug that someone gave to Judi. I am sure she will treasure it always. : )

A rousing game of cards played on Christmas Eve. This was one of three photos I took all day. I actually took this one with an iPhone app called Iris and I screwed around with it in there, I don't have the original picture to do anything differently with it now (and the others suck). Wonder why I thought this was cool just a week ago......

I hope you see what I was going for here. Blurred vision with the alcohol and stuff?? Or was it just me that thought this was neat? Ditz hated it, not the scotch mind you, just this picture. This was what we got my father-in-law for Christmas. It was half gone by the end of Christmas days. (Four boy drinking it, not just one).

So did you guys think I died? I think this is the longest I've gone without posting since my vacation in September! Anyway, I am alive and since I really have nothing good to say about this photo I guess it's best that I just say I am back. : )

This was part of Ditz's groomsmen gift. He got these really cool beers and a beer stein. However, I doubt the beer stein will ever actually have beer in it since Ditz immediatly put it up on the "special" shelf.

Just a picture of my new scarf. I was under the weather on this day and just didn't have the energy to come up with anything more entertaining!

On our way out of town after the wedding I decided that this sign would make a good addition to the wedding album. I had to climb a really big hill to get to it, but I think it was worth it!

12.18.10 POTD

So, I really should have made my photo of the day one of Hunter and Ryan, but I have currently decided on this one. As you know from my POTD for 12.17.10, Hunter had sprained his ankle. Plus to top it off he was told that they were going to all stand there a smile for this shot. I had prearranged for the groomsmen to jump on three. This could not have been done more perfectly! And yes, that is my husband who hates being photographed jumping and being silly!

See that smiling guy in the hat? That's my brother-in-law. This was the day before his wedding and we were all at the ER. See he had decided the night before that he would play basketball and he hurt his ankle. They actually thought it was broken, but turns out it was just a sever sprain. He did get a nice boot to wear, should be super fun on his honeymoon.

So, tomorrow right after work I leave to shoot a wedding on Saturday. Tonight was spent packing and making lists, checking it twice. Here's just a portion of the crap that I am lugging with me.

Getting home late from work after having to stop and get new tires on the way home. I hate getting home after the sun goes down. It's a real bummer.

12.13.10 POTD

12.13.10 POTD, originally uploaded by Sarah (SarahDanyelle).

On Monday night the girls and I enjoyed a Mavs game at the American Airlines Center. The seats were really amazing, 8 rows up. I got several good basketball type shots and people type shots, but this is my photo of the day. It's just my style and they way I like to photograph things. Let me tell you though. These things were annoying. The lady behind us kept hitting us with it and making all kinds of noise (you fold them up amd then hit things with them and they make noise).

Here's another day where I will hopefully get around to posting more shots!

12.12.10 POTD

It's secret santa time at the office. This is my "semi-homemade" gift for my person. Her favorite color is purple. Do you know how hard it is to find a purple flower to photograph in winter? She is also very religious, so I used a verse that she has on her desk to uber personalize it.

After we finished decorating the tree I decided it needed to be photographed. Then Ditz decided that it needed to be happy. Seriously. : )

I'll post a few more pictures from Saturday if I ever get a second to get them edited. Took lots of tree and ornament pictures! This is my mother-in-law's tree as we opted not to put one up this year due to our super busy schedules!

The H Family

Saturday I got the honor of shooting some kids. I had so much fun. We went to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden which just the week before had been packed with families taking pictures. I noticed then that no one was using the Fuller Garden for their shots (why I have no idea), so we basically had this little park to ourselves, so little A had the run of the garden!
I think there was an Asian man walking behind her when this was taken. One of only three other people we saw.

There's a cool little bridge.

That goes over this little stream. (Trust me it is a very small and shallow stream).

The tickle monster was going to get her.

I just liked the green hair clip.

Baby brother D, in the house!

Seriously, how happy is this guy?

This was really the best one of the two of them together.  I have no idea what she was attempting to do.

And one last shot.  These little tubes connect with other stations so you can whisper to your friends.  She was whispering to mom and mom was whispering back!

Friday Photo Walk with the 70-200 2.8. Let me just say that I probably won't be doing a walk again with that guy. He is seriously heavy. Doesn't mean I don;t want to own one someday....... : )

12.09.10 POTD

Tortured the dog a little today playing with a new toy (70-200 2.8IS, sucks it's just a rental). Sometimes he is willing other times he is not. Today was a willing day in that he didn't run away, but I was also further away from him than normal. PS - can you totally see me in his eyes?

12.08.10 POTD

Another photo for Katrina's class. We're making a starburst effect with the lights. I contemplated a lot of different things to go with my starburst (if I would have had starburst candy, I would have been all over that!). In the end, I went with one of my favorite inanimate objects, my brownies,. Aren't they cute?

12.07.10 POTD

Our ornament for 2010. I went with something ironic. It's a baking one and this was year we found out that my body doesn't tolerate gluten, so baking has been a bit of a chore for me! Oh, well, I'll pull through. I took this photo for Katrina's class over at get it scarpped. I'll try a better one tomorrow!

You will be happy to know that I did not gorge my eyes out with a spoon (I was very tempted to do so). Instead, I put this crap in my eyes and it seemed to help.

12.05.10 POTD

Finally cold enough at our house to start a fire! I really do love a fire, it's a shame we don't get too many days where we can light them without dying from heat exhaustion!

Fort Worth Botanic Garden. There were hundreds of families doing "Christmas Card" portraits. One Family posed around this statue AFTER they pulled these bushy things out of the ground and used them like feathers. I am pretty sure that the botanic garden frowns on that, but since I didn't do it, I figured it was ok to photograph

I heart faces: Self Portrait

Can I be perfectly honest?  I take tons of self portraits. Give me a reflective surface and I am all over it.  Mostly it's because the hubby seriously hates photographing people and I really want to be remembered some day, even if it's solely in some shiny surface. So when I read what the theme for this week was, I knew exactly which photo I wanted to use....until I opened my lightroom catalog and was staring at probably a hundred self portraits that were all pretty cool in their own way.  But in the end, I went with my original first choice. It is after all the only one that I have ever printed and hung on my wall.
Ever wonder what all the other i heart faces peeps look like?  Now's your chance to head on over and take a peek. (For those of you guys who've never seen this picture before, it a water fountain button.  Since taking this one I have seven more "most dependable fountains" shots.

12.03.10 POTD & Friday Photo Walk

It's so great that people are starting to decorate for Christmas!  I think that adds a little something special to my walks.  I know one weekend I am going to attempt a night time walk with my tripod and get some light shots!
I am back at Lakeside Park in Highland Park, Texas.  There was a team of guys putting up these lights on the bridge.  The only reason they were on was because they were testing them.  This is one of the places that I want to hit at night!  I bet this is really quite lovely.
See that there on the other side of the "lake?"  That is private property, as in someone's house (It's huge, I should have included a picture).  They put up those Christmas decorations, not the city, or at least according to the city workers hanging the lights on the bridge.

This goes the entire length of the lake on the back side.

I love lamp posts. : )

This is the bridge from the other side. Not a lot of water flowing this time of year, but you'll have to trust me when I say it's cool when it does.

No one but a few people I work with will get this statement: It's like I can't get away from them! Seriously, I can't. (See a picture from Saturday that I have yet to look at off my card, but I'll make sure it makes it on the blog as well, because I really can't get a way from them).

This is my runner up POTD.  I debated this long and hard, but went with the bridge.  Did you notice that they are both black and white? I am in a black and white mood as of late.

If I had a picture of a jack russell I would totally post it here. I feel bad and hope they get their dog back.  I'm just spreading the word....if anyone on my blog has seen this dog, will you please let them know?
