Geek Heaven

Today I was sent on an errand to pick up an new hard drive for my laptop. I must be rough on computers because the laptop was brand new in May. Anyway, I got to go to Fry's Electronics to pick it up. That place is such a geek heaven. Glad Ditz didn't go with me. Anytime he steps foot in that building you can bet we'll spend a few hundred dollars. Lucky for me the office paid for my new hard drive!!

So there's a story behind this one... We have these friends who have been married a few years and before they got married they had to take a couple's counseling class. One of the questions was to write down something the other did that totally annoyed them and then the second part was to write down a simple yes or no, if they never stopped doing that could you deal with it. We were discussing the pros vs cons of this question. Ditz's theory was that if you no the other person will never leave you, then you don't work on that thing. That prompted me to ask what my thing would have been. And he quickly said candy wrappers. I have a tendency to just leave them lying around. Good to know he won't leave me over it and I did throw this one away before he saw it. And funny enough that's a picture from our wedding in the background. : )

Our rhuella in the afternoon after a watering. I was trying a diiferent angle . I think I kind of like it. : )

He's my hero...

So, Friday afternoon I get home from work and go to turn on my laptop and wouldn't you know it - nothing. It just sat there, like ha-ha I am not working. I just used it in the office all day Friday so I can't imagine what happened to it between me leaving the office and getting home, but I guess that's how things go sometime. When Ditz got home, I asked him to make it better. After running some diagnostic stuff, he told me it was f'ed. I almost started to cry. I had not backed anything up on the external hard drive in a month, just been too busy. So the 4,000 (that's right, I said 4,000) photos that I had taken so far in August were gone. Poof. Just like that. There were a bunch that I just loved and had planned on printing to fill some of the empty walls in our house. Then Ditz told me that maybe he could backdoor his way in to get me those files. It took all weekend and tons of things that I don't understand, but he was able to recover my files off my harddrive just long enough for us to move everything over to the EHD. I will never go that long without backing up ever again. I am just luck that I was smart enough to marry a engineer, who just happens to be working on software type stuff at work. He's my hero..... Now if the office would just replace my hard drive quickly so I can get back to scrappin, that'd be great!! : )

08.29.09 Photo of the Day

This weeks Saturday Snapshot challenge of Katrina's blog was a scavenger hunt of sorts. We had to find: four, red & sweet. We could've taken multiple photos to get all three, but I went with one photo. This is an old timey truck hauling four red Twizzler Bites. My computer crashed on Friday night, so all of my photo editing software is unavailable to me. I would make some adjustments to the color, but I guess it is what it is. Hopefully, someone smarter than me can get my laptop running again. Ditz has been trying to fix it since Friday night, with no luck so far. He was able to go in through a backdoor and get all the files that I hadn't moved to the EHD yet, but so far that's it. Crossing my fingers it gets fixed!!

I love all the sunflowers in the fields surrounding our neighborhood. This little guy is at the end of one of the streets and an entire bush is growing around the red and white road closed sign.

Katrina Used My Photo

I am such a dork, but I was so excited this morning when I signed on to Get It Scrapped (taking a photography class there with Katrina Kennedy). The discussion was about our favorite types of photos. I admitted to being a macro-aholic. I love super close up in your face pictures. And then she said....Did you notice I spotlighted one of your photos on my blog as a great example of a macro shot? I almost died. I hadn't done last weeks Saturday Snapshot challenge since I was at the dog trial all stinking day, so I hadn't even gone on line and looked at it. Wouldn't you know it, the time I get praise is the time that I'm not looking. Anyway, it was my photo of the day for August 19. The link to the blog is here.

We had some pretty bad storms come though around sixish. After they passed, we were left with a really pretty purplish and pinkish sky. You can also barely make out a rainbow on the left side. This is the view from our backyard.

I saw these in my desk drawer this morning and tried to take a cool shot. They are in an aluminum container so I thought if I got some of the reflection that would be neat, but the ones with more of the sides don't look as good.

It was my mistake. Clearly I should have said "can you start a load of laundry." Instead, I aksed him to bring the laundry up, implying he should start a load. I have learned my lesson.

Scrapbook Pages

It's been awhile since I got four pages done during one lunch hour. I might even be caught up on all the new stuff!!

08.24.09 Photo of the Day

This little piggy went to market....this little piggy stayed home... this little piggy had roast beef....this little piggy had none...the missing little piggy already went home!
I have a collection of piggy banks. I just love them! (not all are actual piggies. these four just happen to be). These, which are in my kitchen as decoration, are very special to me. The silver one is one that Ditz picked up for me at a flea market for $2 when we first started dating and the sparkly one behind it is one that he picked up for me on a business trip in Vegas. The yellow and green one we purchased together on our first out of state trip to San Francisco and the blue one I bought on my most recent shopping trip with my mother in law.

Chase had such a great two weekends! Out of seven runs Chase got three first place ribbons. The three first places were all in Jumpers with weaves, so he also got a new title! (It's really something to be proud of for Chase, it takes some dogs tons more trials to get a new title, but for us we were just doing it for fun so it was just icing on the cake!)

This was the second weekend of the AKC Agility Trial in Fort Worth. Chase and I competed in two events on Saturday and one on Sunday. On Saturday we got one first place and when you get a first place you also get a toy. This is Chase's new dragonfly toy (I know it looks like the crab from the Little Mermaid) and his blue ribbon!

Ditz holding our dog Chase (left) and my mom's dog Jade (right). Most people think that our boy dog is a girl because he is so fluffy, but when you put him next to a girl dog, he looks down right manly.

I love Potbelly. I would probably marry Potbelly if it were legal to marry a sandwich shop (I guess though I'd have to first divorce my hubby....hmmmm). Anyway, I know I did a cookie photo last week from Potbelly and if this tells you how often I go there for lunch, here's a shot of my cup. I really love the lighting at my desk, seems to work out pretty well!

The Time Traveler's Wife

I finally, after many months of waiting I finally got to see The Time Traveler's Wife. It was a really good movie. Not as great as the book, because the book was AWESOME and will probably be my favorite book of all time for quite a while. The things that they left out of the movie that were in the book didn't detract too much from the story. I would have been ok with a four hour movie if they kept it all in, but I am pretty sure that I am one of the few! Of books that were made into movies, I think this moves up to the top of my list. It used to be The Reader by Bernhard Schlink (movie version starred Kate Winslet), but I guess it's knocked off. Also on my list of good books made into movies is Confessions of a Shopaholic which I also just watched recently. Anyway, I was very happy with how the Time Traveler's Wife turned out and was very happy not to be disappointed!

Don't you just love it when you open a Straburst package and both pieces are your favorite flavor. So awesome!

Chase is so excited to be at the agility trial. He hasn't been competing for a few years, but he still had a great weekend! One first place finish out of four runs over two days! We get to do it again next weekend and then he goes back into retirement for a few more years!

08.13.09 Photo of the Day (big girl shoes)

Today I wore my big girl shoes to work. We had guests in town and were told to look nice and for me that meant at least not wearing flip flops. So today, I wore my fancy dress shoes. Then as a funny, I propped them up on my desk at work and snapped this shot.

Countdown to Doggie Palooza....

In just a few short hours tons of dogs will descend upon the Jones casa......

Yes, I walked the half mile round trip to Potbelly this afternoon just so I could have an Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookie. Maybe I should have taken the photo before there were only crums.... then again maybe not.

Boy did I need a slow day at work on Monday! Just four voicemails all day. I usally get upwards of thirty, not to mention all the calls that I actually answer!

Heather's Page

My friend Heather over at Designer Digitals did a page about Ditz and I while we were in San Antonio. She's such an awesome photographer and scrapper. I am so happy she did one for us. I am hoping she'll send me the full size version so that I can add it to my book! Click on the picture to see it bigger, it's truly great!

San Antonio Digi-Crop Group Photo

My camera did not exactly play nice with the lighting in this hallway. Hoping one of the other girls will send me a better one. : )

Ditz said it couldn't be done without a tripod! Ha, I did it. It's not perfect or even great, but it's no super blurry either. This was at the Natural Bridge Cavern just outside San Antonio which we decided to stop at on our way home from the digicrop!

30 Minute Masterpiece

So this one actually turned out exactly how I envisioned it. First the rules and then my layout.

Journaling: Sonic uses the slogan of "Your Ultimate Drink Stop" due to the 168,894 possible drink combinations. However, as you can see from my Facebook post from yesterday, the one flavor combination they don't offer is a Strawberry Lime Slush. When I ordered my Lemon-Berry Slush, the lady was fine with that - it's on the menu, but when I wanted a Strawberry Lime slush, the lady said, "We don't have that." Of all the flavor combinations out there, that's the one the lady had the issue with. We did get the slush, but it was a bear getting her to believe that they had all the ingredients to make a Lime-Berry slush.

Digi Crop

So I am here in San Antonio doing the digi crop. First challenge did not go super great, but here's my page. (We had to make odd shapes).

08.05.09 Photo of the Day

I did actually take some pretty interesting photos while makeing dinner (buffalo burgers), but in the end, I opted to post the pies. They made chocolate, lemon something or other, strawberry and pecan. Did I mention there were only eight of us in the office today??I was good and only had a small piece of the strawberry!

Birthday Time!!

Today was the August Birthday lunch celebrating Craig and Janet's birthday. The culinary center made four - count them four pies - for the 8 of us in the office to enjoy. I won't show the pie pictures because quite possibly one of those could be the photo of the day, so I'll just include Janet & Craig enjoying their pies!

Suitcase watch

So we are going to see how long this particular suitcase sits in the bedroom. For the record, I pulled out the dirty clothes and washed them. The clean clothes are on him to put up!

08.04.09 Photo of the Day

Natalie and I walked over to Potbelly for sandwiches for lunch. Along the way, we usually pass something interesting to photograph and today I chose a wall display at La Cubanita, a cuban restaurant that is mostly patio. They are brand stinking new, but try so very hard to look old.

08.03.09 Photo of the Day

We went to the Fiesta Mart in Fort Worth to pick up fajita meat for dinner. We were for sure the whitest people there.

Ditz was not feeling well this morning when we got up and all he wanted was a cup of Ramen Noodles.

We are so silly. This one is worth the read for the journaling. The big picture is the "field" and the little pictures are the "players" of our Friday night games.

Funny People

Last night we went to dinner and a movie in North Richland Hills. First stop was Ghengis Grill. My bowl did not turn out well at all. Apparently, the pepperoni is a key ingrediant for flavor. I was trying to be a little healthier and leave it out. I'll know next time that I need to add more dragon salt if I leave out the pepperoni. Then we went to Rave Theater to see Funny People with Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen. Even though we had just eaten, we got popcorn and these new Starburst gummy burst candies. They were weird. I got to see the extended preview for the Time Travelers Wife. I am so excited for that movie to come out. I really can't wait! The movie was pretty funny, but really long. There wasn't really any room to cut anything out, so I don't know that they could have made it any shorter.

08.01.09 Photo of the Day

Boy is it hard to find something every single day to photograph. The ladies in my Flickr group that have been doing so since January 1 get a big round of applause from me. Some days it's easy and others it's just a nightmare. Today we had more rain (I don't ever remember it raining this much in July / August before). After the rain passed, I got a few shots of the garden with droplets still on the leaves. Our Rhuellas & Lilys flowers aren't that pretty right now, so I stuck with the leave shot as the photo.
