04.29.10 Photo of the Day

This was pretty much how I spent my day yesterday after having two crowns set. My mouth just hurt, so much that for most of the day I didn't even talk to anyone, which is very unusual for me! Luckily today is much better!

04.28.10 Photo of the Day

This so makes me want to go skating! Give me some good (or bad) 80's music, big hair and a couple skate any day! Except for the fact that I am so uncoordinated I would probably hurt myself.
Just paid $6 for a stainless steel sharpie! I love office supplies.

04.27.10 Photo of the day

This is Chase's purple ball that for some reason Ditz sprayed with water while he was watering the trees. Yes, I got down on the wet ground to take this picture, but I think it was worth it!

04.26.10 Photo of the Day

I have to admit, I have never seen a speed limit sign not in increments of 5. Who randomly decided that 15 is OK, and 16 is OK, but heaven forbid someone go 17? So weird.

04.25.10 Photo of the Day

We left on Sunday to go over to my mother-in-law's house and this guys was barely a bud. Six hours later we returned and this beautiful flower had bloomed. I was even able to capture (sort of) the elusive pink flowers on our sage. They usually just look like blobs, but at least there is a little definition here! Plus the yucca is blooming too, but it's so stinking tall I;d never be able to get it into a shot with any other flowers!

Here are a few other pics from Sunday!
Other people do this with kids, well Chase is kind of like my kid, so into the bluebonnets he went!
Speaking of bluebonnets.... I have taken several pictures of them the last few weeks, but something is always better.  Wouldn't be a Texan if I don't get at least one photo of the day of bluebonnets, but I only have a few weeks of blooming left!

Here is Cojak!
And Cojak in black and white!

He's baaaack!

As I was viewing his pictures that he took, I came across this one.  This boy who hates it when I try to take a picture, hands his camera over and poses like this in the middle of a hotel.  So silly! (I had to convert to black and white becuase it was sooooo yellow, but I thought the green would be a cool pop!)

I heart faces: Smiles

I actually originally had a different photo picked out for this weeks theme, but then I caught this photo yesterday and decided this was the one for me.  See, my hubby HATES being photographed. Something about pictures stealing your soul (joke).  So usually anytime a camera is aimed his direction he's either scowling or holding his hand up.  I have lots of hand pictures. Yesterday we were trying to get a few pictures of Cojak, his dog that lives with his mom, and someone needed to be there with him otherwise he won't sit still.  I had been zoomed in on Cojak, but then he started clibming on Ditz, then Ditz started laughing, so I zoomed out.  I love that Cojak isn't in focus because he rarely ever is, it's just what he does. I do however love my hubbies genuine smile which I rarely ever capture!

Check out tons more smiles at i heart faces!

04.24.10 Photo of the Day

There is one great thing about Texas in spring time. Road side flowers! This is a field not far from our house. In the distance you can see the Aterbury Grain Elevators. I love them!

We spent a lot of time out and about on Saturday, we even got a new tree for the backyard.  Maybe I will share some of those photos in a bit.  Here are a few more of the shots from the flower field. Some of the last ones were taken with my iPhone!.

04.23.10 Photo of the day & Friday Photo Walk

I love it when a Friday works out that I take a half day off work (this time for Dr appointments, but still). It means that I can walk anywhere and not be bound by geography.  The last time this happened I ended up at a less than stellar location, but I took some pictures and made it work.  This time, I ended up at a great location, but they were planting trees and using lots of heavy equipment which tends to know me off my photo taking game.  I am swinging in this picture. You'll never know how many attempts it took to get a decent picture or how much my abs hurt afterwards. I don't remember swinging hurting this much as a child.
You just don't see these that often anymore.

I am really into this shape against the sky. (Wait until you see some of the Saturday pics)

It's been awhile since I've shared some sunflare!

Another hard picture to take. I was actually going to walk down, but stopped.

I found the most perfect climbing trees.

And a few more! You can view them all here. Newest are at the bottoem.

04.22.10 Photo of the Day

Another new brownie! This one has a pretend zoom or so I guess. It's sitting right next to my Wink (by shutterfly) picture strip.

I saw this red door just outside a Target and decided to snap a quick pic!

I heart face: Collage

I am the last to the party this week, just so much stuff going on!  This week we get to do collages and I finally decided on some pictures I took of my nieces and nephews over Thanksgiving. Aren't they a cute bunch!
Check out more awesome collages over at i heart faces!

04.20.10 Photo of the Day

Laura and baby Dane. She stopped by the office today to show off baby and while she was there I took some shots for her dealers of her and baby Dane with some of our product that we rep. Notice the wine bottle in the carrier? So cute!

04.19.10 Photo of the Day

I lost my keys today for a brief time. Apparently, at some point I stuck them on the file cabinet in the office. This is a part of the office I rarely go and only remembered why they were there after I found them. (At first I thought someone hid them, but nope, it was just me).

Greeblepix Contest Entry

So I have to tell you: I love this picture. Love it with every fiber of my being, yet I did not choose it as yesterday's photo of the day.  I really don't know why either.  I guess I just felt that the "full" picture would be better. But this close-up, for what ever reason, I just love. Ok, now I have you guys all prepared for one magnificent photo....

Check out the other entries this month!!

04.18.10 Photo of the Day

It's raining and has been all weekend which pretty much sucks! I had planned earlier in the week to go to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden this weekend in hopes of getting some flowers in bloom.  And then the rain came.  There was supposed to be a brief break in the rain around mid day so I decided that I was going to go to anyway.  It never stopped raining, but luckily it was just a drizzle (why does Snoop Dog carry an umbrella? For drizzle...yeah, I'm a dork).  I finally got to use the "all weather" feature on my camera bag, however I found just keeping it in my jacket was way easier.  Despite the rain, there were a fair number of the people out and about.  Even a few professional portrait sessions, which was kind of weird. To check out all of the photos, you can click here.

There's this "rule" in photography that if you see red, you should take a picture of it. This is a red work bench that I saw at a distance and trudged through water that went over the top of my boots to further investigate. I have no idea what they use it for, but it was leaning against what appears to be a maintenance shed.  I want one!!

Quick view of the other "5 star" photos. (Again you can click here to see them larger.)

A photowalk by the numbers:
265 Pictures Taken
33 "5 star" photos
3 serious POTD contenders
1 hour walk

04.17.10 Photo of the Day

New shoes! It was such a rainy and dreary day today that I went shoe shopping and then to the movies. I have nothing that I think that these will match, but I decided to get them anyway. (do you see me in the button? I am there, trust me!)

04.16.10 Photo of the Day & Friday Photowalk

Robert E Lee park in Uptown Dallas.  The thing I love about my Friday photowalks is that I get to see things that I probably would never have seen before.  I've worked in the same office building for four years and I have seen more of the city in these last four months than I did the previous four years. Take today's park for example, it's three miles from my office, but I promise you I've never seen it before today!  So anyway, I hope you guys are enjoying the Dallas area parks as much as I am!

Today's photo of the day was super hard. There were tons of great shots (if I do say so myself). I ended up choosing this one because of how curious it makes me. This is the sewer cover, but there's rope tied on it? Who knows, but I like it. : )
This was the runner up and is just so sad to me. At most of the parks around Dallas you can do benches, trees, sculptures, or other random cool things in memory of a loved one. The bench directly beside this tree was in memory of a guy. I was talking to the lawn care guy and he said every week the wife brings out a new picture since usually someone walks off with the frame. So sad.

Third runner up.  I love this one so much, but then I really love rustic things and then when I added the sepia - perfection!

The rest are in no particular order. This is the Robert E Less statue that fronts the park.

The stream running through the park.

This is one of the memorial benches, pretty cool, huh?

Ok, there's a story here.  I love John Stewart, love him. Anyway, the other night he was talking about the US and made a joke that we can't have nice things. You'll have to trust me that it was funny. Anyway, the bluebonnets are blooming, but you can't get to them to take a picture since they've put up these temporary fences.  Apparently we can't have nice things... or so that's what this little fence reminded me of!

You can see downtown from this view!

This is a scale model of Robert E Lee's original home.  I think you can have weddings and stuff here. Really cool.

The back side of the building.

The open air gazebo looking straight up.  It was really overcast!

On the ground.  I love the ground shots.

Finally a sort of front view.

I can't resist flowers!
Couldn't resist making bookends!  This is another view of the sewer cover!

Until next week!!
